Escaped Exotics establishes a hydroponics garden culture of invasive weed species (Impatiens gladulifera) from the south of Sweden. It endeavors to capture sensitive frequency signals of plant roots produced during the growing process that are too soft to be heard by the human ear. In real-time the system processes and amplifies these signals to be heard within the human audible range.
Pictured incarnation includes table, tanks, bucket, submersible pump, tubes, clamps, fogger, timers, 250 Watt Metal Halide grow lamp, contact microphones, preamplifiers, power amplifier, external sound card, voltage converters, power strips, speakers, water, plant seeds, custom software and computer.
